Doc takes the Buddha statue away from mover, saying “that’s valuable”, puts it in back seat of his car, and buckles seatbelt around it. The statue certainly doesn’t look valuable. But the bigger question for me is why he’s so attached to it. As far as I recall, he’s never made a reference to what it represents to him. Was it in his family? Was it a gift and, if so, from whom? He certainly never made a reference to his faith. Do we think he believes in those doctrines and lives his life accordingly?
